Images are decoded in your browser and never uploaded.

What the decoder shows

The decoder reads the content and explains what kind of action it would trigger, without performing it:

  • Links are shown with their full address and the website they lead to. They open only if you select Open link.
  • Wi-Fi codes show the network name, security type and password (hidden until you choose to show it).
  • Contact cards are listed field by field, with an option to save them as a .vcf file.
  • Email, phone and SMS codes show the recipient and any pre-filled message.
  • Text and structured data such as JSON are displayed as plain text. Nothing in the code is run.

Supported images

PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP and GIF images work in every modern browser. Screenshots work well. For photos, make sure the whole code is visible, in focus and not too small. Very large photos are scaled down automatically, which often helps.

Is it private?

Yes. The image is read by your browser and decoded on your device; it isn’t uploaded to Ziqeno or anywhere else. Closing or clearing the page removes it.

Why decode before scanning?

A code in an email, on a sticker or in a document could lead to a phishing page. Decoding it here lets you see the destination without your phone opening it. If you need to check a code on a physical object, the QR code scanner uses your camera the same way.
